[VIDEO] 20+ Top Entrepreneurs Answer “You Are A Perfectionist If…” #CurePerfectionism

Super excited to share this little project with you guys because I’ve put my heart and soul into it and I am really proud of the result.

You all know that #perfectionism has kept me stuck for such a long time (and it still does every now and then) and I want to bring more awareness to this issue and help entrepreneurs learn new and more useful ways to deal with perfectionism in business, but also in their day to day lives.

So, I’ve asked 20+ entrepreneurs to complete the following question: “You are a perfectionist if…”

The beauty of this project is that it features smart, even wise answers, but it also features funny ones like the one from John Lee Dumas at minute 01:11.

Because I believe we’re all ONE, we are all part of the same global family and that LOVE governs everything, my goal with this project was to feature as many races as possible. So we have people from all over the world, we have white people, Hispanic, Asians, African Americans.

Timeline

On July 1st, the idea hit me for the first time and I’ve decided to let it sit for a while and see if it feels good even after a few days.

Two weeks later, it was 10PM and I was feeling drained with energy and this project was the only thing I could work on. You can imagine that I’ve worked non stop until 2PM when I finished contacting everyone and had a much clearer idea on what I want from this project and how will it work.

Only on August 17th, I’ve managed to get all the videos from people and being a perfectionist, I was the last one to create my bit.

August 22nd, the final version was ready and I barely resisted the urge to share it before everything else was prepared.

[VIDEO] How To Change Your Limiting Beliefs (The Healthy Way)

“You begin to fly when you let go of self-limiting beliefs and allow your mind and aspirations to rise to greater heights.”

Brian Tracy

How do you change a limiting BELIEF?

Watch this super easy to understand video and below you have the text version.

You can change a belief by reading a book or attending an event or working with a coach. And, after some time, you will definitely have a BREAKTHROUGH. Even better said, a new connection is created in your brain.

Some believe that is enough. But is it?

The truth is that you are just getting started. Let me explain. In order to experience real, long-lasting change, you need to put in the work. Having a breakthrough is not enough nor does it equal long-lasting change. It’s only the FIRST step!

I remember that I once read something Louise Hay said:

“If you accept a limiting belief, then it will become a truth for you”.

I like to compare it with taking a different road home. If you take the same road home for ten years, you don’t think about it while driving, do you? It becomes your truth.

See also: Stop The BreakThroughs Crap & Understand How Change Really Works!

But if you were to take a different one, you will have to make an EFFORT, right? And not just the first time, but maybe a couple of times (possibly even hundred of times!), until you don’t have to consciously THINK which way you should take to get home. It becomes your second nature. And if you take this NEW road enough times, you will start to forget the OLD one.

“The key to optimum health is to upgrade these unconscious maps and limiting beliefs that have been driving us to a toxic lifestyle and relationships.” (Alberto Villoldo)

It’s the same with beliefs. You need to CONSCIOUSLY think different until it becomes so normal that you hardly have the old belief anymore. But (and there is a big “BUT” coming), you need to allow yourself some TIME. And not just that, you also have to be patient with yourself and love yourself. Whenever you catch yourself using the old belief and accept that it is NORMAL, it’s okay!

“You have the power in the present moment to change limiting beliefs and consciously plant the seeds for the future of your choosing. As you change your mind, you change your experience.” (Serge King)

So, without any judgment, you should patiently begin on working to change your subconscious ideas and limiting beliefs into “real expressions of your authentic self”. This is an idea I got from Sue Thoele.

This is the HEALTHY way of changing a belief.

Remember to always LOVE yourself!

  1. What’s your story and why have you decided to go on your own path and become an entrepreneur?
  2. Every beginning is scary. what were some of the fears or mental blocks that you had when you first started out on your own?
  3. How did you overcome those fears? Any book that played an important role, online course, event or did you work with a coach?
  4. You’ve gone through an amazing body transformation. Why do you believe most people don’t take care of their body? Why do we take our body for granted?
  5. How can we get to experience a better connection with our body that will definitely improve all areas of our life?
  6. I mean I know it’s important, but I want you to tell everyone who’s listening just HOW important it is for an entrepreneur to engage in a constant exercise routine. How big of an impact it had on your life?
  7. Can you recommend a simple routine for entrepreneurs that want to start taking more care of their body to bring more energy in their lives? Something so simple that you cannot help but stick to it and that will kinda point them in the right direction 🙂
  8. You’ve built a business with your better half, Amanda. Can you share some of the benefits of building a business with your wife? I am doing the same and I want more people to hear about how AWESOME it is to have someone next to you that is your lover, your best friend, and your business partner.

A Story About Dealing With Perfectionism and Bad Days

Here’s a great quote for every perfectionist out there:

“Birds don’t just fly, they fall down and get up. Nobody learns without getting it wrong.” (Zootopia song by Shakira)

Let’s stop the fear of failure and accept it as part of the journey, which does not have to be a straight line (or perfect) in order to be amazing!

Quote on Perfectionism - Zootopia Soundtrack Shakira

Let me tell you a story about perfectionism in its purest form…

About 5 months ago, my coach told me to draw a graphic of how my emotions should look like in order for me to be happy and satisfied. How should my life look like? How many ups and how many downs can I accept?

But, as a perfectionist, I was like “what downs??? there’s no such thing in my life! In order for me to be happy, everything has to work out perfectly, there are only ups”.

    And guess what I drew?!

A STRAIGHT LINE. (exactly like the one below)

There were no ups, no downs, just pure perfection, without understanding that everywhere in nature there are ups and downs, good times and bad times, positive and negative.

For me, thinking that way was equal to “dreaming big”, to “not limit myself”, but I couldn’t be more wrong.

What does it mean for you to be consistent?

Does it have to happen every day for you to label yourself as being consistent or disciplined?!

What does it mean for you to have a habit? Does it have to be daily?

What if you could be more flexible?!

What if you could accept that being consistent is about doing the same thing (habit or not) over and over again during a long period of time at an interval that YOU decide?!

What if you could accept and label yourself as being consistent by doing one of your habits every two/three days instead of daily?!

What if you could accept that there are times when you feel like doing some habit daily and there are times when you do it only once per week, but if you start in January and you’re still doing the same habit in December (daily or not), you are consistent!

What if you could stop forcing yourself from doing all the things that certain guru’s, authors and thought leaders are telling you that you should do in order to be happy, healthy or successful?!

What if you could start listening to your inner guidance and do what feels right for you?!

Can you accept having a bad day?

I’ve come a long way since that story, but it’s funny how I couldn’t accept that I can have a bad day without beating myself up for not being good enough. I couldn’t accept that in life there are ups and downs and it was unrealistic to believe there can be just ups.

I couldn’t accept that it’s okay for me to feel negative emotions without meaning there’s something wrong with me.

I couldn’t accept that it’s okay to feel tired and skip a day at the gym and that is not the worst thing it can happen.

I couldn’t accept that it’s okay to be sad sometimes without meaning that I will become depressed.

I couldn’t accept that it’s okay to be and do less than perfect.

Believe it or not, but since I’ve started learning how to deal with this perfectionist in me, everything is working better in my life, especially my business which has doubled in the past three months. Try it, there’s nothing to lose!

It’s all about the meaning that we give to the events in our life and I encourage you to take yourself less seriously! Allow yourself to fail and have a bad day because you will see that there can be some pleasure in having a bad day if you LOVE YOURSELF.

How to Automate Twitter & Triple Your Impressions In 21 Days (100% White Hat!)

About three weeks ago I opened an email from Appsumo about their recent deal. The name of the app was Quuu – didn’t do anything for me, but something made me read the entire email because they promised to teach you how to automate Twitter to deliver high quality content and get new followers on a constant basis.

Five minutes later, I was already playing with the new app which almost tripled my tweet impressions, got me 84 followers and over 230 new visitors to my website with about 60 minutes of work involved.

UPDATE: in 27 days I got 133 new followers.

I’ve set up Quuu.co in about 3 minutes and continued with my day and, even though it wasn’t on my “to-do list” it was one of the best decisions I made in the past 30 days, mostly because I’ve learned to be more flexible and listen to my intuition when it tells me when something is right or not, but this is a conversation for another article.

Disclaimer: NO, I was not paid to write this article – I just love to support people & companies that offer a lot of value.

Note: if you’re one of those guys that is looking for the next big thing or how to get an influencer overnight, this article and website is not for you. I help entrepreneurs build strong foundations so they can have long-term success.

Let me brag with my stats

First, let me show you some stats (to get you excited) and then we’ll go into how you can copy this strategy for your own business.

Note: depending on your industry, current followers count and other factors, your stats might be bigger or smaller than mine.

I also need to mention that before implementing this strategy, I haven’t used Twitter that much = on average, 3-5 tweets per week.

    Twitter Stats

    28 day summary twitter

At the time of these screenshots, I’ve been using Quuu.co + Buffer for exactly 21 days. And yes, these are not your average six-figure-overnight-success numbers, but these are REAL!

    Tweet activity

    Likes TwitterRTs TwitterClicks Twitter

While, it’s true that I did not get much clicks on the links that I’ve shared, my main objective was to build a Twitter following without me having to be involved that much and to become some kind of “go-to person” when it comes to entrepreneurship, and I am getting there.

And yes, these are REAL followers.

    Google Analytics Stats

    Analytics Twitter

    Anaylitcs 2 Twitter

NOTE: you won’t get any traffic back to your website unless you schedule tweets to your articles in Buffer as well. A big role in this graphic played the advanced technique & Promote feature from Quuu which you can find if you scroll down.

How to automate Twitter by using the magic of Quuu.co & Buffer

First question that I hear you ask is: “is it safe? is it white hat?”

    Of course it is.

Quuu sends up to 10 tweets per day (status updates) to your Buffer account from the categories you previously chose in their dashboard.

These are the steps you need to take in order to automate your Twitter account:

    1. You need to sign up for a Quuu.co account here. I recommend you go for the premium plan of $10/month and get 10 hand curated posts sent to your Buffer account every day. There’s also a free option but you only get two posts per day.

    2. Then you’ll need a Buffer account to make it work! Click here to open a Buffer account – it’s FREE. You will thank me later for this tip because it will definitely save you at least one hour every week, depending on how often do you post on social media.

You can use the new found time to schedule a free 30 minutes call with me to talk about your goals, fears and about growing your business.

    3. After you’ve opened a Buffer account (I am not going to go into all the details because it’s super simple and you can google other articles that deal with that process!), you sign into your Quuu dashboard, connect it to Buffer and then select from tens of categories that are related to your business.

Quuu then does all the work for you and sends those tweets directly to your Buffer account.

Note: I am referring to tweets because I only use it for Twitter right now, but you can send status updates to all the social networks supported by Buffer.

Buffer Tip: use their feature to select the best times of the day to post on each social network. (see screenshot)

    Schedule Buffer

In terms of scheduling tools, there are other great options as well, but for now only Buffer connects with Quuu.co and I’ve been a Buffer customer for over three years now and I am very happy with their $10/month awesome plan.

But Mihai, “…how does it help me if I don’t post my own content to get traffic to my own website??”

You’ve learned how to automate Twitter using these two apps, and now it’s time to use their power to actually grow your business.

Automating Twitter this way helps you get more followers for when you will share content from your own blog.

Also, as a rule of thumb you should only share about:

    • 30% your content (articles, pictures, quotes that YOU’ve created),
    • 60% from others in your industry (articles, quotes and pictures from your “competitors”),
    • 10% promotional content (pitch your paid programs – because you’re running a business, right?!).

Besides getting more followers, it helps establish yourself as a go-to person for all the great news, tutorials & info about your specific industry, which is how influencers are built!

But, I recommend you schedule some of your own articles in Buffer as well and below I share with you a strategy that can get your great results with not that much extra work.

Advanced technique to get more traffic to your website from Twitter

Setting up Quuu and tweeting every day about your industry helps a lot to get exposure, new followers and some kind of expert status (in time!). While all this is great, we know that in order to have a business, we need to get traffic to our website which can turn into subscribers and then into customers, right?

In order to get traffic, you need to schedule content from your own website and mix it with the one from Quuu, but on Twitter it’s not enough to share your article once.

What I like to do (and I am not the one who invented this strategy) is to share each article several times with different headlines.

To take it a step further, I share other stuff from the article:

    • images with a link back to the blog post.
    • quotes with a link back
    • important/intriguing sentences with a link back

Tip: don’t forget to add your hashtags and, unlike Instagram, the broader the better!

To make it more interesting and random, use Buffer’s “shuffle” feature to mix your content with the ones from Quuu for a more organic feel.

Here’s an example of how I shared one of the interviews:

You can take a look at the article here!

    Jason 1 Jason 2 Jason 3 Jason 4 Jason 5 Jason 6 Jason 7 Jason 8 Jason 9

Got a freebie? Share it too!

Assuming you have a dedicated page for your freebie (which you should! – look at mine here), apply the same strategy and try to come up and schedule at least five different headlines along with the link to your freebie.

Now take it through the roof!

If you truly want to be a PRO, you set up some time every month (about 30minutes) to go through your Buffer account and “re-buffer” your “Top Tweets” from the “Analytics” tab.

Besides the top tweets, I also like to re-buffer my freebies, to make sure I get a constant flow of new subscribers.

    Quuu’s “promote” feature

While playing with Quuu, I’ve found their “promote” feature which lets you add content to be shared on other people’s accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).

I immediately signed up and, to my big surprise, I got 150 shares in the first two weeks! Here’s proof provided by Daniel – one of the co-founders.

    Quuu Promote

And here are stats from my Google Analytics account:

    Quuu Promote Google Analytics

Columns (from left to right): pageviews, unique pageviews, time on site, entrances, bounce rate.

Yes, the bounce rate is a bit high, but it might be because I haven’t worked on improving that site-wide.

How does it work? Simple. You go to their Promote page, pick your “tier”, take a short survey, send them your best article, pay and wait to be approved.

Once approved, your content will be featured for 30 days. It can’t get better than this!

Prices? Between $5 and $25 per month, depending on the industry/category you choose. For me, in entrepreneurship, it was $25/month.

Disclaimer: NO, I was not paid to write this article – I just love to support people & companies that offer a lot of value.

Social media is important for traffic & branding, but it can take a lot of time to do it right, especially if you’re a perfectionist (I know what you’re going through), but I truly hope this article was thorough enough to get you started on Twitter using Quuu.co & Buffer, and I’d love it for you to share your results (or questions) in the comment section below.

There are lots of articles and tools out there on the topic of “how to automate Twitter”, but most of them deal with black hat techniques that won’t deliver high quality followers or, even worse, might get you banned. This strategy is 100% white hat and does not involve fishy tools.

    [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_tagline_box backgroundcolor=”” shadow=”yes” shadowopacity=”0.1″ border=”3px” bordercolor=”” highlightposition=”top” content_alignment=”center” link=”” linktarget=”_self” modal=”” button_size=”” button_shape=”” button_type=”” buttoncolor=”” button=”” title=”” description=”NOTE: prepare thyself for a rough ride because we’re going to bust some myths.” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”15px” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][/fusion_tagline_box]

Because this is not your usual article, let me start by asking you some questions.

    • have you ever felt like there’s something wrong with you because you cannot change a thought pattern?
    • have you ever felt frustrated while reading success stories about how certain people changed their life “forever” after reading a single book or attending an event?
    • have you ever felt like certain success stories are missing something super important? (hint: time!)

If the answer was yes, keep reading.

I am super annoyed by all the authors, coaches, speakers and thought leaders that write books in which they describe their breakthrough but don’t tell the whole story.

You hear these authors and thought leaders kinda bragging about their moment of awakening by saying:

    • “so, I read that book and it changed me forever…”
    • “I spoke with that person/coach and my life changed forever…”
    • “I went to that event and I was never the same…”

Now let’s see how these things work in the real world!

Don’t even try to tell me that because of an “aha! moment” you never EVER thought about a situation like you used to think before you had the awakening.

This is exactly what annoys me. Because we, the normal people, we read tens of books, listen to seminars, enroll in online courses, work with coaches and therapists and we have tons of “aha! moments”, but just a few days after the “aha! moment”, we find ourselves thinking like we used to think.

And these “perfect” success stories are making you believe that there’s something wrong with you because you did everything they did and probably even more, but for you it wasn’t that simple, for you it wasn’t “perfect”.

Now, my question is: was it really that simple for those authors as they say?

Of course it wasn’t, but who would read a book if you market it like this:

“So here is what happened: I read these 7 books and went to 3 events over the course of 2 years. I had several AHA! moments and I’ve constantly worked on myself for another 2-3 years to INTEGRATE those teachings into my life, into my being. Then, my life truly changed forever.”

You bet it changed forever after that much work and time!

No one will buy such a book because we are all looking for the magic f$%king pill, for the easy fix, for someone to save us. And I am not better than you, trust me – it’s a trap from which I am trying to escape for years now.

Breakthrough (aha! moment) vs. real change!

I did not know how to put it in words until I read The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks who talks about the difference between BREAKTHROUGH and REAL CHANGE!

    [/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_tagline_box backgroundcolor=”” shadow=”yes” shadowopacity=”0.1″ border=”3px” bordercolor=”” highlightposition=”top” content_alignment=”center” link=”” linktarget=”_self” modal=”” button_size=”” button_shape=”” button_type=”” buttoncolor=”” button=”” title=”” description=”You can have as many breakthroughs as you want, if you don’t work on yourself after the actual breakthrough, you won’t experience the real change!” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”15px” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][/fusion_tagline_box]

So, we have breakthroughs – when you feel that “aha!”, that clarity moment – and we have change. Change equals those months and years of work on yourself to change certain patterns of thinking, is the way you INTEGRATE the teachings into your own life.

So, I kindly ask all the authors, teachers, coaches and thought leaders out there to stop making such claims because there are many perfectionists out there (like me) who read such stories and start to believe that there’s something wrong with them because they don’t experience such easy-to-deal-with change. You cannot imagine how much pressure a perfectionist can put on herself if things don’t work out they way it did for others.

Be REAL, be AUTHENTIC, be VULNERABLE and people will still buy your book or want to purchase your products. Don’t hide the struggle, don’t hide the sleepless nights, don’t hide the frustration that comes with thinking about a situation like you used to think, don’t hide all the years of work.

Don’t hide the PROCESS, because that’s the thing most people have a hard time accepting.

As my friend, Elinor Cohen, suggested to “see these published “miracles” as inspiration of what is possible and less as “why am I not there yet?”

    So, what’s this article’s keyword?

INTEGRATION. In order to experience real change you need to integrate the lessons, the aha moments into your daily life until the new way of thinking becomes normal. But I kindly ask you to allow yourself time.

It’s unrealistic to believe that you can change a thinking pattern, that you’ve developed in years or even decades, in only a few short days. Although I don’t believe there can be an exact science here, as we all have such different life experiences, my suggestion is to do your best to love yourself while working on changing any pattern – it will make life so much easier.

And this last suggestion is something that I am working on integrating in my own life for quite some time now – over six months – and yes, sometimes I do feel like it’s getting worse rather than better, but it’s normal.

Why do you think my coaching program is for six months?!(and most coaches out there are going for the same approach) It’s because they hire me to keep them accountable, to ease their way through change, to give them confidence, among other things.

And again, you can book a single session, you might have an “aha! moment”, but that does not guarantee you will actually change a certain thinking pattern.

What’s a healthy way to deal with change?

First, acknowledge the difference between breakthrough and the process that follows. Secondly, is by adding a teaspoon of self-love every time you start beating up on yourself for not being further down the road or for getting into the old ways of thinking again.

Thirdly, check out this interview that I had with my friend Jason Goldberg (an international speaker and coach) where we dive deeper into how change really works, how to accept the process and develop a more loving attitude towards yourself!

    Are you a perfectionist?

Also, here are two books that I totally recommend about perfectionism and allowing yourself to be vulnerable:

Of course, there are still many things to be discussed around this topic or about loving yourself, but I’ll leave that for a future article. Meanwhile, if there’s one thing to take away from this article is this: have patience with yourself because real change happens over time.

PS: remember to love yourself through the process of changing your thoughts! (this reminder is actually for me – sorry!)[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

3 Mindset Blocks That Are Keeping Creative Entrepreneurs Broke

    [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_tagline_box backgroundcolor=”” shadow=”yes” shadowopacity=”0.1″ border=”1px” bordercolor=”#4eccc3″ highlightposition=”top” content_alignment=”center” link=”http://mihaiherman.com/bundle” linktarget=”_blank” modal=”” button_size=”large” button_shape=”” button_type=”” buttoncolor=”” button=”Access them here for FREE!” title=”Did you know…?!” description=”This article is part of the 13 mindset blocks that I’ve identified over the years.e cover comparison, perfectionism, money fears and vulnerability issues. Mindset work is usually underrated, but it’s truly the pillar to any successful business. You can access all of them for free by clicking the link below!” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][/fusion_tagline_box]

Over the years, I’ve struggled with so many mindset blocks, I can’t even count. They kept me stuck, broke and, most importantly, unhappy and unable to enjoy my work. 2015 was probably the year when I became aware of most of my limitations (which was no fun) but it was also the year I tripled my business and I want to believe that me dealing with those limiting beliefs played a very important role.

Then, I’ve started coaching entrepreneurs and the same blocks appeared over and over again, and something is telling me that you need to hear this.

There are lots of mindset blocks out there (I’ve identified 13 very powerful ones. Access them here for free!), but I’ve found the following three to be the ones that gave me and my clients the hardest time.

Before we dive deeper, though, I’d like you to understand two very important aspects of dealing and working with your blocks:

    • the first step is to become aware, but the trick is that the moment you become aware you will start seeing these blocks in all kinds of situations. No need to freak out – It’s normal and by doing this you actually take their power away.
    • just because you became aware of your mindset blocks, does not mean that you are done with them forever. They will come back, but you will be more prepared to deal with them now. Imagine that these blocks were probably formed in years or even decades of thinking in a certain way, so give yourself time to heal and move past them.

BLOCK #1: “who am I to be an expert?!”

    Or to teach people.

Or to have lots of clients.

Or to help people be happy, wealthy or healthy.

    Sounds familiar?

This mindset has kept me from becoming a business coach for about 18 months.

Unfortunately, this is a common block among creative people – coaches, healers, designers and artists. Why? Because of our nature of being creative, of seeing things in a different way, we had to deal with a lot of negativity, doubt and shame in the past.

That negativity lowered our self-esteem and brought a lot of voices in our head that either talk us out of everything that might prove we are worthy or laugh at us for being too naive, for being dreamers or unrealistic.

That negativity lowered our self-esteem and brought a lot of voices in our head that either talk us out of everything that might prove we are worthy or laugh at us for being too naive, for being dreamers or unrealistic.

How can you move past this particular block?
First, as I told you already, become aware of it and of all the ways it shows up in your life.

Secondly, work on your self-esteem. This will do wonders for you because it will help you feel more worthy of anything and, besides increasing your business, it will increase your level of overall happiness and balance.

A good book that I recommend is “The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem” by Nathaniel Branden – it literally changed my life!

Repeat after me: “I allow myself to be an authority in my industry and it’s okay. I am worthy of success.”

BLOCK #2: “everything I do has to be PERFECT in order for me to…”

…enjoy life, enjoy, grow, be abundant, happy, love myself, make enough money, be successful, be appreciated.

Or everything has to be perfect otherwise:

    • it won’t work.
    • I am wasting my time.
    • I am not worthy of creating something good.
    • I am a failure.
    • etc.

I wish you’d say that nothing sounds familiar to you, but I know it does.

I talk about perfectionism with Julia “Juju” Hook in this great interview – you’ll love how she explains that it’s all about finding balance.

Usually, this perfectionism appears because you read about how someone else became successful using a particular strategy and you try to copy that, which is great, but you try to copy that in a perfect way. Even worse, you feel like if you don’t copy that strategy perfectly, it won’t work for you and you feel like everything you did was in vain because it’s not “perfect”.

    2016-02-15-1455550444-7660325-PerfectionismQuoteMihaiHerman.jpg
Don’t let the perfectionist side of you dictate your life. Perfectionism is like fear — you can listen to it, accept its opinion but don’t let it stop you from realizing your dreams.

Check out this interview with MaxCDN co-founder, David Henzel, in which he talks about learning to act out of LOVE instead of fear!

Don’t listen to everyone out there no matter how successful they are! If it does not resonate with you, forget it! If you try to apply every strategy that works, you will become so overwhelmed that you will not do anything! Pick a strategy and stick with it long enough for it to produce results.

Picking a strategy is the same as setting a goal – it should be exciting and a bit out of your comfort zone!

Also, allow yourself to enjoy life every now and then – it’s not all about being productive, creative and focused!

Repeat after me: “I trust that everything that I do is perfect the way it is. I trust that my journey is perfect as it is. I trust that I will reach my goals at the perfect moment for me.”

BLOCK #3: “why charge for my knowledge?! It’s super simple!”

If you’ve been doing what you’re doing (coaching, design, consultancy, writing or whatever your creative niche is) for a long time, you probably feel like everything is so simple.

Because you feel like everything is so simple, you also feel like a fraud when charging people money for something that is “so simple”. This feeling will only get you fewer clients/business and you are really not helping anyone with this attitude!

The truth is that it is only simple for YOU! Not for your clients – that’s why they come to you.

It’s simple because you did that thing a thousand times.

It’s simple because you studied your industry for years.

It’s simple because of all the money you’ve invested in courses and books over the years.

It’s simple because of countless hours that you’ve put into figuring out certain things.

BUT it’s not simple for everyone — remember that!

Repeat after me: “It’s okay to charge money for my time and knowledge.”

There are countless blocks that might stop you from achieving your dreams (some more important than others), but what’s more important than anything is to keep moving forward!

Year in Review 2015: Lessons Learned | People I’ve Met | Business Accomplishments

In December 2014 I’ve started to say that “2015 will be an amazing year” or “2015 will be my year”. And so it was, my friends, so it was!

Even though I did not make $100,000 how I dreamed of or I can kiss goodbye my goal of making $1 mil. by the time I am 25 – which was just a goal to prove myself, was not a goal that served my highest purpose – I can say that 2015 did not go the way I’ve expected to go, but it went its own way, the best way.

2015 exposed me to the best experiences that I was able to understand and experience, and it had a big impact on my life and it will be one of those years that will be always remembered as a big turning point.

So, what actually happened in 2015?

I wanted to review my year and what better way of doing that than writing an article, which puts everything in a better perspective, right?! While preparing for this article, I’ve started with a brainstorming session in which I wrote everything (that I could remember) that was big enough to mention in 2015. I’ve found so many things to be thankful for that it would take a 20,000-words article to write everything.

Below are just some of the things that I want to share with you from my spectacular 2015.

    Relationships

Maybe one of the biggest accomplishments this year is that I was able to strengthen my relationship with everyone in my life.

My relationship with Roswitha has grown to another level and we’ve never been happier together and more natural with each other than this year and I know it’s going to get better and better from now on. We’ve been together for over seven years now and live together for more than two years.

If there’s one advice I can give to other couples, that would be to not get married before they live together! By living together, you get to fully get to know the other person and see if you can really spend your whole life together.

    Better relationships with my parents.

Trust me, being an online entrepreneur is fancy, but it’s not that fancy when only a few people understand what you’re doing and the others are only trying to “wake you up to reality”. 2015 was the year that my parents started to understand what I am doing, what I want and started to also respect that and trust me in my endeavors.

We had a lot of fights over the years and I am happy to say that those are a thing of the past now. My mother told me that she is proud of me and that she supports me in everything that I want to do. She even apologized for all the times she did not support me or tried to make me do something I did not like.

My father is one of those persons that believes (or believed) that you motivate someone by telling them how bad they are. In 24 years, I can’t recall my father telling me that he is proud of me, he probably said “Congrats!” a few times (even though I can’t remember). But this year, he went the extra mile.

It was a wonderful feeling to have my father support and encourage me a few days before my first public speaking engagement ever (more on that below) in the most natural and genuine way possible. After the event, I called him and told him that it was awesome and he told me, a couple of times, “Congrats!” – probably more than in 24 years.

But this did not happen overnight. My relationship with my father was never good, we probably never had a relationship until this year. I kept on believing that it can be better and I have a strength, I believe, to always see the good in people.

I believe that you can only drive out hate through acts of love and that was exactly what I did to strengthen my relationships with everyone in my life. Did they hurt me? Unfortunately, very much, but if I tried to hurt them back, this article would have probably been about how I did not talk to my parents in months. What I did, though, was to respond with love in the best way I knew: telling them how much I appreciate them and constantly remind them that I love them. More on this in my article about how I told my parents that I love them.

    Met some amazing people.

It’s official, one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made in business so far, was that I did not have the guts to put myself in front of my business, to own it, to tell people what I am doing for a living and connect with people that are doing the same thing as me. I will definitely write more about this in 2016.

Connecting with other peeps was one of my focus in 2015, which overwhelmed me at one point, but I’ve met some amazing people that played an important role in my life and in my business.

    And, in no particular order…

Angela Tabirta is the therapist I’ve seen this year to work on blockages, fears and on getting to know myself better and let go of thoughts and beliefs that do not serve me. She literally changed my life and I am so grateful for the day that I met her. You can find her at angela.tabirta.eu

Kevin Stimpson is my good buddy from B-School – a business and branding coach from San Diego who’s probably the most energetic and motivated person I know. You can find him and his wife Devona at strivengrind.com

Dirk Wilhelm – I’ve only met him less than two months ago, but I already feel like I’ve known him forever and I see him as a good friend. He’s my accountability partner, we meet every week, we talk about our goals and we also coach each other on matters that affect us. He is a life coach with a unique vision about life and you can find him at onelifebaby.com (only in German!)

Julia Hook – I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing her this Summer for a project that I’ve currently put on hold. We talked for about an hour and she inspired me in a big way with her view on life, self-acceptance and with the flexibility that she walks through life. She blogs about marketing and branding over at strategicjuju.com

I could write an entire paragraph about each one of them, but this article is long enough already. Here are other amazing people that I met this year or that I want to mention because I admire them in some way (in no particular order):

    • Deea Petrica (the happiest social media expert)
    • Razvan Laichici (a man with a vision that completely changed his life a few years ago -you will hear more about him in the near future)
    • Marietta Cohen (my favorite client so far – she’s currently working on launching her DIY paper blog – designelevated.net)
    • John van Vlaardingen (my first business coaching client – find him at jvvhealth.com)
    • Florian Suba (a future successful entrepreneur – he got me my first speaking engagement)
    • Alexandra Jeitan (thehealthycookiejar.com – the latest addition to my friends’ list, but one of the funniest, kindest & coolest)
    • Nicoleta Kadar (a teacher with a big big heart)
    • Simina Furdui (she helped me so much with Roswitha’s ring – I will be forever thankful)
    • Bogdan Tomoioaga (I purchase my peanut butter from him, even though he tried to steal my wallet – inside joke, don’t bother understanding it – he blogs about fitness at muscleboom.ro)
    • Toma Grozavescu (one of the most genuinely enthusiastic person I know. He blogs over at grozav.org and owns a marketing agency smarters.ro)
    • Alexandra Marseu (crazy, funny, honest & kind – that’s how I would describe her)
    • Karen Ni Dhiomsaigh (the only one from B-School that I met in person and she’s lovely!)
    • Malin Anderson (from healthcoachescommunity.com)
    • Alexandra Dumitrache (Editor-in-Chief at estilo-tendances.com & an amazing asset to our team)
    • Dana Bindea (one of the sweetest moms you’ll ever meet & soon she will be a blogger)
    • Florela Blidariu (our awesome accountant that managed to make our business life much easier – contabilitate-timisoara.ro)
    • Christian Brugger (we met online and we kinda share the same passion – self-improvement – and I am learning a lot from him about patience)
    • Angela Cosma (we did not meet in 2015, but I feel it’s worth mentioning her just because she’s gorgeous – find her at whoisgorgeo.us)
    • Floris Buliga (my good hard-working friend that I am sure will have the best year yet in 2016)
    • George Mihaila (my best friend who doesn’t stop to inspire me with his positive attitude and passion for life – can’t wait to see him at the wedding this year)

I’ve also met a lot of amazing people in the Facebook groups that I am active like B-Schoolers 2015 and Sensophy Inner Circle that are too many to mention here.

I truly apologize to those that I forgot to mention, it was not on purpose!

    Reconnected with other amazing peeps.

It felt good to reconnect this year with some amazing people that we’re “on-hold” in my life. People like Sorin Tataru, my good ol’ friend and neighbor that taught me everything about computers, PC games and programs when we were younger. It felt so good to reconnect with him during our trip to Dublin for WebSummit.

This year, I’ve also connected with Andreea Belean (who I thought was my cousin for such a long time – but she’s not!), who’s an amazing person and I am so happy to have her in my life. And last, but not least, I’ve started talking again and met with Ana Feier, one of my friends from high-school.

    Business

Wrote around 110,000 words. Overcame my fear of writing.

2015 was a big turning point for me because I’ve started believing in myself, believing that I have something to share with the world and that I can be taken seriously for my point of view on self-improvement and business.

I always had a problem with expressing myself in all possible ways, but especially in written word. My father always put so much pressure on writing perfectly that I never had the courage to even start writing something. Then, my English teachers never told me or gave me the impression that I would ever be able to write something in English.

But, in spite all of that, I was able to break free this year and start writing my thoughts, ideas and lessons that I’ve learned in my short life, but that could potentially help a lot of other people in their journey. It was not easy because I was fighting tens of negative thoughts, but once I’ve started writing and published my first article, new thoughts and beliefs emerged that helped me continue.

In total, I wrote about 60,000 words in articles, email courses and newsletters for Male Extravaganza & for the online marketing webinars that I’ve hosted on MihaiHerman.com. Besides all that, I am also a top contributor on Mode.com where I wrote 122 articles with an average of 400 words each which accounts for close to 50,000 words.

At the beginning of the year, I never would have thought this was even possible, that’s why you need to be open to changing your path/way along the way and not always stick to the resolutions you made at the start of the year.

    Redesigned Estilo Tendances.

Estilo Tendances was our first project which today evolved into a lifestyle, beauty and style blog for women. Roswitha managed to redesign the whole website alone (okay, she did 90% of the work) and we are very happy with the design it has today because it’s more user-friendly and opens up a world of new possibilities thanks to the cool template that we use.

    Relaunched and rebranded Male Extravaganza.

Male Extravaganza went through some rebrands over the years – it started as a place to blog and feature all things extravagant and expensive. It then evolved into a style & grooming blog for men and it ended up becoming a self-improvement blog at the beginning of May, 2015 – the design that you see today.

Started coaching people on online business. Hosted first webinar. Got my first clients.

Yet another thing that I never saw myself doing and that was not on my goals list, but it happened in the most amazing way.

What do I do? I use my five years experience to help people launch successful businesses online or to take their active businesses to the next level.

It all started with a collaboration between me & Malin from HealthCoachesCommunity to host exclusive webinars for her community, which got me way out of my comfort zone. After doing the first few webinars, I’ve posted in the groups that I am active in telling them that I am willing to coach for free in return for testimonials.

Right now I have three clients that I coach for free and in January, I am going to start with my first two paying clients.

So far I love it probably more than anything I’ve done and it’s something special about helping people succeed, helping people accomplish their dreams and seeing them happy, probably because I know how it is to struggle and to not know which way should you go. If I were to start all over again, I wouldn’t do it without a coach – it’s just not worth it! If you or any of your friends are interested, take a look at my coaching program!

Visited Dublin. Attended WebSummit. Met Scott Harrison. Selfie with Kickstarter co-founder.

I wanted to attend WebSummit since 2012 when I first heard about them, but I never had the money or there were other, more important, things to do.

In 2015, however, I decided to email them and propose a partnership: we cover the event on all our social media platforms & blogs in exchange for two tickets to attend the event. Two weeks later, I heard from them asking for a phone number in order to call me and discuss the potential partnership.

The next day, I got a call from their PR agency telling me that they want to give us the tickets and we don’t even have to cover the event at all.

It was the perfect example of “ask and it is given” because sometimes that is all you need to do in order to get what you want.

    Yancey Sprinkler selfie Kickstarter cofounder

The event was spectacular – 42,000 people || 2,200 startups. During the event, I’ve shaken hands with Scott Harrison from charity:water, took a selfie with Yancey Strickler co-founder Kickstarter and listened to other amazing people like Bill Ford CEO Ford, Mike Krieger co-founder Instagram and other amazing speakers.

Roswitha and Mihai in Dublin Howth

We also decided to stay a week in Dublin to be able to fully discover its beauty and I am so glad we did that because it was an amazing experience and, surprisingly, a lot of sun.

Visited Florence. Attended Pitti Uomo. Interviewed Nick Wooster.

2015 was the first time that I’ve traveled to Italy and I loved it! We went to Florence to attend Pitti Uomo 87 and I’ve never seen so many well-dressed men in one place in my entire life.

Besides Florence, we also visited Pistoia where we had a nice Italian dinner in a hobbit-like house, drank red wine and had a wonderful chat with our hosts.

Mihai Herman - Roswitha Moti - Nick Wooster Interview for Male Extravaganza

While in Florence, I had the honor of interviewing Nick Wooster (see the interview here), probably one of the best-dressed man in the world, who happens to be a very kind and down-to-earth gentleman.

We had an amazing time in Florence and stayed for one night at a 400-year old residence Palazzo Belfiore.

Overcame my fear of public speaking.

As you already know, the fear of speaking in public is the number one ranked fear in the world. Since I can remember, I was afraid of speaking in public, but the fear was so great that I was afraid to even ask questions in school/university.

At the beginning of 2015, I’ve set a goal to host a seminar, a workshop, anything that will put me in front of an audience so that I can finally face this fear and move on with my life. As you can imagine, I kept on postponing organizing that seminar, but something amazing happened: because I’ve set the intention, the Universe delivered. At the beginning of November, someone that I’ve only met about 2 months ago contacted me and asked me if I want to speak at a small event in front of some students.

Even though I was scared, I said immediately YES because I knew it’s for my own good and I knew that if I want to grow (personally and professionally) I needed to take this opportunity.

December 16th, 2015 will be always remembered as the day that I faced my fear of public speaking in a big way. I’ve learned so much and gained so much confidence from just one presentation that I am still amazed. I will definitely do at least two presentations in 2016 to keep the confidence high and even get it higher.

Launched my second business. Tripled our income.

In April 2015, we launched our second business and we met the best accountant ever, Florela Blidariu. There were a lot of ups and downs this year, but in the end, I can look back and thank for all the lessons that I’ve learned and for being able to triple our income/business in 2015.

At the beginning of the year, we dreamed about becoming big, but there was a lot of doubt. The goal for 2016 is to maintain our growth and triple (or more) our business again.

    Invested in B-School.

Investing in B-School was probably one of the best decisions we’ve made in 2015. We paid with our savings and with borrowed money, but we knew it will open up a new world of possibilities for us. And it did!

Thanks to B-School I’ve realized what I really wanted to do with Male Extravaganza and, later on, I’ve realized that I want to become a business coach and help people/businesses succeed online.

Besides all the great information, there’s a very active community of over 4,000 people that are willing to help and support each other in the most amazing way.

Got invited to all fashion weeks.

If in 2014 we had to send a ton of emails in order to get invited to New York Fashion Week(which we attended – more details here), this year it was much easier. We got invitations to all major fashion weeks: New York, Milan, Paris and London, along with other smaller ones in Madrid and Toronto.

Unfortunately, we did not attend any of them because we had other, more important, investments to make to grow our business, but it’s nice to know that we could have been there.

Guest posted for the first time. Published on HuffingtonPost.

I wanted to guest post for a long time now and I knew the power it has to grow your business, but I never had the time or guts to do it. In 2015, I managed to break this barrier and I’ve published four guest articles out of which, one on HuffingtonPost. To be honest, I did expect a bigger impact on my business, but maybe I had too big expectations.

Here are the guest posts I did this year:

    Personal

I love and appreciate myself more.

While this might sound weird to some of you, it’s the stepping stone to a happy and healthy life. I was always in conflict with myself, putting a lot of pressure on me and expecting the impossible. 2015 was the year that I’ve started to make peace with myself, to forgive myself for past mistakes, to love myself for who I am and I’ve started to build a friendship with myself. And I am glad I did it.

Discovered myself. Became authentic. Faced a lot of fears.

Not many people know this, but 2015 was full of tough times, especially the Summer when I got so sick of some of the negative thoughts and patterns that I’ve decided to see a therapist once again. It was, besides deciding to marry my best friend, the best decision I’ve made in 2015.

Yes, you can deal with stuff on your own, but is it worth it? Why exactly would you want to deal with negative thoughts, anxieties and stress on your own? Just to prove that you are good enough? Well, that was the case for me – I thought that if I ask for help I am a weak person and this is a very important lesson that I’ve learned:

“You have to be tough person to know yourself and know when to ask for help and then have the courage to do it.”

The past 6-7 months were a journey that was tough at times, but I’ve grown so much that it probably would have taken me years to reach this point of growth if I wouldn’t have asked for help or guidance.

I’ve conquered a ton of fears this year and on some I am still working because, if there’s another thing I was forced to learn this year, was that change takes time! You cannot expect to change a thought pattern that you’ve used for 20 years in a matter of days or weeks.

I’ve also learned to be more patient with me, to allow myself to make mistakes and to release the pressure of succeeding in business as soon as possible. In the end, I am only 24 years old and I have all the time in the world to make millions, to help millions and inspire the world in the most unique way.

Letting go of constantly comparing myself with others was another thing that played an important role in the overall level of happiness in my life. You know how they say, “Comparison is the thief of joy” and, trust me, it does not help you in any way. Compare yourself with your past you and see if you’ve grown or not, that is the only healthy comparison you can possibly make.

Since I’ve started studying B-School, I became much more authentic which was another big jump out of the comfort zone for me because my entire life I was used to play a role, to be someone else, to be someone that I believed people would like. But that role put so much pressure and stress on me.

Thank God I’ve managed to let go of that in 2015 and to reveal how I really am to the world and it feels amazing. I am much happier and, funny enough, people tend to like me more now for how I really am.

    Decided to get married.

Yes, it’s official that we’ve decided to get married and it will happen in 2016.  The truth is that I couldn’t be happier about this.

Mihai and Roswitha Herman got engaged

Even though she knew, we discussed this, I managed to surprise her at Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna where I propose to her with the ring that she knew it will not come for another 7-10 days. This actually happened on the first day of 2016, but I’ve planned and thought about this half of 2015.

Watched Friends again. Watched Seinfeld for the first time. Became interested in documentaries.

“Friends” is my favorite all-time tv show, although I did not watch that many. I kind of made a habit of watching Friends every year in the last 4-5 years and, although I know most of the lines, it still cracks me up.

In 2015, I’ve also watched Seinfeld which ended up being a very funny tv show and it might even go on my regular yearly schedule because I love Kramer.

My philosophy is to watch tv shows that make me feel good, that give me energy, that make me laugh.

This year, I’ve also started being very interested in documentaries about nature, animals, and travel.

    Pay it forward campaign.

In October 2015, together with Roswitha and Andreea, I’ve organized a pay it forward/charitable event to feed some families from our county. It went better than expected and we’ve managed to feed 12 families, but I wrote an entire article about it here.

    Healed my acne.

Everyone that knows me knows that I had an acne problem and I’ve tried a lot of treatments – creams, antibiotics, vaccines and homeopathy – but nothing cured it. Some helped, some made it much worse. At one point, I had very bad acne on my back, chest, face and even on my legs(but only in some areas) – it was bad and I suffered a lot because of it and the worst part was that it got so bad because of bad medication.

Even though I am not completely healed, I’ve come a long way because I don’t have the very big and nasty ones on my body, I only get some pimples every now and then – depends on what I eat – and my skin is getting clearer and clearer.

What happened? Well, it’s because of Roswitha who became a health coach and put me on probiotics. Besides that, I was also gluten, dairy and sugar-free for about six months.

My skin was never better than right now and I finally know that I am headed in the right direction.

Started doing yoga. Ran almost 250km.

I don’t always run, but when I do, I usually run 50km that week. In 2015, I had some moments when I felt like running – a lot – and I’ve totaled close to 250 km and my longest run was 11km. It’s fun, but I always listen to good music to give me energy. It’s not something I do constantly or that I want to be consistent with because it kinda hurts my knees, but I enjoy a good run every now and then, especially if it’s raining or snowing, or if it’s at sunrise.

My playlist consists of anything from AC/DC to Sean Paul and Adam Levine.

In 2015, I’ve also started doing yoga. First, with the sun salutations and then added more positions into my practice from watching Youtube videos. Honestly, I love it even though I don’t always find time for it or I am not 100% consistent, but I believe the key to being disciplined is to know when you can allow yourself to not be disciplined and just start all over when you feel like it.

My goal is to not let any day pass without doing any physical exercise, be it running, yoga, walking or hitting the gym.

    Conclusion

These were some of the most important things that happened in my life in 2015. I truly hope I’ve managed to teach you something through the lessons I’ve learned and to inspire you to dream bigger through my accomplishments.

6 Life Lessons Learned From Animation Movies

What I love the most about them is that they teach valuable life lessons in such a simple way. Although these motion pictures seem to be only for children, I strongly believe that adults have much more to learn from these “ordinary” movies than kids.

I dare you to take about 90 minutes of your day and watch one of the movies mentioned below – it may be the most well-spent 90 minutes of the month.

    1. Negative Emotions Are Okay! — Inside Out

There is a big pressure on being happy these days that we almost forgot that fear, sadness and anger are also part of life, part of our human experience. We often tend to forget that each emotion plays an important role in our lives and that neglecting the negative ones it’s not the wisest thing to do because they can bite us at a later time. I believe that instead of talking about happiness, we should better teach people about flexibility, about self-acceptance and self-love.

Check out my interview with David Henzel where we talk about love, acceptance & much more!

Our emotions can guide us and are meant to allow us to experience life at the fullest. The secret lies in learning how to work with our emotions instead of putting all the negative ones in a box that now one should ever see. Experiencing negative emotions does not make you weak, but quite the opposite!

    2. Stop Judging Everyone! — Home

One of the main lessons that I got from this movie, even though it came right before the end, was to not judge someone until you walk one mile in their shoes. Even though all the Boovs (the little aliens) thought that Gorg was their enemy, the big ugly spaceship was only following them because they had something very precious — the last set of eggs and without them their species would go extinct.

It’s easy to walk down the street and put a label on everyone (I know I used to do it back in the early college days), but it’s better to remember that we are all good at our core, we have good days and bad days and that shouldn’t define us.

    3. We Are All Equal and Part of the Same Family! — How to Train Your Dragon

We are all living beings and part of the same planet: people, animals, plants, insects and God knows what else. It’s time we start living in more harmony with the world around us.

What I personally like to do is:

    • catch flies carefully so I don’t hurt them and then throw them outside.
    • eliminate ants in a peaceful, natural way even though I am not always successful
    • admire and give thanks for all the beautiful nature I have around me
    • say blessings over the food that I eat
    • save spiders and put them outside nicely
    • watch where I step (when possible) and do my best to save some of the insects that you see

    4. Revenge is Never a Good Option! — Big Hero 6

Revenge is never a good option and it will, most likely, make you feel worse than before. Let karma do the work for you. All you have to do is to free yourself by trying to forgive the person and let God/Universe decide if and how to punish him/her.

Check out my list of recommended books for entrepreneurs (mindset & business wise)!

Sometimes, grief can make us blind, but that’s why we have friends that can help us see what’s right from wrong and help us make better decisions. You don’t have to do everything alone, you don’t need to have all the answers. It’s okay to be helped, that’s what strong people do — they ask for help when they need it and accept that. It’s time we move away from the myth that a strong person has to be strong all the time. We are all human beings, we make mistakes, we have good days and bad days, and sometimes, we just need a little push and that’s fine!

    5. Learn to Accept Yourself — Wreck-It Ralph

Ralph says something very wise and it kinda summarizes the whole lesson in one single quote:

“I am bad and that’s good, I will never be good and that’s not bad, there’s no one I’d rather be than me.”

Learning to better accept and love yourself should be always at the top of your mind because that’s what brings you peace of mind, joy, compassion and love for other people. Accepting yourself is an act of consciously acknowledging what you are today, good or bad, with an intention to always strive to improve yourself.

Once we stop resisting things, we grow and everything becomes easier.

    6. You Don’t Have to Look Like a Hero! — Kung-Fu Panda

Yes, you don’t have to look like a hero to become one. You don’t have to do all the things successful people do to become one. Find your own journey and rewrite the rules if you have to.

Like there’s no diet to fit all human beings, there’s no road to success to fit us all either. Of course, there are some important ingredients you have to keep in mind, but you can mix and match everything else according to your intuition. Always trust your intuition!

    Conclusion

Even though they seem to be movies for children, I believe these are the real movies that we should all watch again and again until we learn these lessons (and many more).

Action movies, dramas and thrillers are great, but most of the times they teach us quite the opposite and can create all kinds of fears and negative beliefs. Action movies teach us that revenge is acceptable, dramas teach us to always be on the lookout for something bad to happen — it can’t be good for too long, and don’t even get me started on horror movies which I personally believe should be banned.

    #WebSummit 2015 – What Happened in Dublin DAY #1

It’s been my dream for three years to attend #WebSummit and now it finally happened. We got an email, in March 2015, asking us (me & Roswitha) to attend and cover the event on our blogs. You can imagine the joy that I felt and I can still remember screaming when I got the news.

With approximately 42,000 people attending the event, there was a lot going on and I’ve covered some of the most interesting talks and events from day one below.

Spoiler alert: there’s a picture of green & red colored sheep at the end! (No kidding!)

Elbi – Good on the go

In my search for awesome startups, I always look for these few things in them: purpose, authenticity and creativity. Exactly in that order. Today, I’ve stumbled over a great startup called Elbi.

Elbi it’s actually an app founded by Natalia Vodianova, a Russian supermodel famous for her seven-figure contract with Calvin Klein. The main purpose of the app is to connect charities with regular people that don’t have millions of dollars to contribute to charities no matter how much they believe in them or how much they want to make this world a better place. Within the app, charities post

According to the latest stats, there are over 4.5 million likes given on Facebook every single day. Elbi has created a “love” button through which you can donate $1. If Elbi gets to just 1% of Facebook’s total likes, they could raise $45,000 every day or $1.35 mil. every month.

The app is still an MVP, but I truly believe it can be another great tool that could make this world a better place. As Natalia says it very well:

“If you love something you have to put money in it.” – Natalia Vodianova

    Forbes vs Wall Street Journal

There was a very interesting conversation today between Charles Yardley representing Forbes and Carla Zanoni from Wall Street Journal. As one would think, these two media companies are very similar and you’d think that they’re approach to gaining more readers and a bigger reach would be similar as well, but I noted one big difference.

Forbes puts a lot of accent on demographics, on finding new ways to engage “Millenials”, while WSJ is more focused on what exactly do users look for when browsing over their website. They are more into the psychological side of things.

Another interesting fact that I’ve learned from this talk was that Forbes is actually paying their contributors by the number of followers they have, which I believe to be a very fair way of rewarding their content creators.

    The power of a pixel

Mike Krieger, co-founder at Instagram had a nice talk with Anna Dickson, photo lead at Google about the power of visual content these days, especially pictures. However, one of the coolest things I’ve heard today was:

“Image is the last thing a journalist thinks, but it’s the first thing the user sees.” – Anna Dickson

As I talked in my latest webinar, you can write the best article ever, have amazing references and a great storyline, if your image is not telling users anything or if your title is not catchy, no one will get to see your amazing article. The image and the title are the first things someone sees when you share your article on social media, so make them count!

Changing the way the world moves

This was the talk that made me write the most and that says something.

One of the very first books that I’ve read on my journey to become a better man (join the free email course here!) was “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill and I became very passionate about the stories behind how he ended up working with Andrew Carnegie and the whole secret societies behind the wealthy people.

    Bill Ford at #WebSummit

One of the wealthiest men of the time was Henry Ford who, according to some sources, did not want the book to go out, but he said one of the wisest things ever:

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t. Either way, you are right.” – Henry Ford

I was very excited to actually see Bill Ford, the great-grandson of Henry Ford, on the stage talking about Ford and how they aim to make the world a better place.

One of the key takeaways from his speech was “one company can’t and shouldn’t do it all” as he talked about how Henry Ford did everything but the tires when he first started out, but now we live different times and people are becoming more focused on partnerships and ways in which companies can grow together and help each other succeed.

He also mentioned something about perfectionism, which is a fascinating topic for me at the moment as I am focused on dealing with my perfectionist thinking as I read Brene Brown’s book “The Gifts of Imperfection”. He said:

“No company is perfect. We can deal with reality and define it.”

Bill Ford gave some awesome advice on hiring talented people. He said that people like to solve interesting problems and that if you give them something interesting to solve, you can hire and retain better people.

    Other mentions

    1. Saul Klein ended his awesome talk “Majority World Report” by saying:

“We can learn from US, but I believe the future is no longer there!”

He was referring to Africa, of course.

    2. Yancey Strickler, co-founder at Kickstarter said gave some great, timeless advice to all the business people present at the event by saying:

“Don’t sell out. Don’t sell out on your principles and have patience!”

And I got to take a cool selfie with him

Selfie with Yancey Strickler from Kickstarter

    3. Mike Krieger showed everyone what it means to have a clean presentation by having about only one word written on approximately 50% of his slides, simple text on a one color background. Loved it!

    Conclusion

All in all, I am very impressed with #WebSummit so far, everything seems to be working according to the plan. There is a lot going on and I feel like there’s not enough time to do everything that I’d like to do.

A lot of interesting speeches, startups and fellow press people and I feel like I would need at least two weeks to cover everything.

I will leave you with this weird picture:

    Weird stuff at #WebSummit 2015
