Perfectionism Might Be The Biggest Mental Block For Creative Entrepreneurs

[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”shadow” top_margin=”” bottom_margin=”10px” sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” class=”” id=””/][fusion_text]

“Everything has to be perfect in order for me to enjoy, grow, be abundant, happy, love myself, make enough money, be successful, be appreciated.”

Everything has to be perfect otherwise…

…it won’t work.
…I am wasting my time.
…I am not worthy of creating something good. (good is not perfect, by the way!) …I am a failure.
…etc.

I wish you’d say that nothing sounds familiar to you, but I know it does.

And don’t even get me started on your website – the copy has to be perfect, pictures, articles, freebies, pages, popups, etc.

Usually this perfectionism appears because you read a strategy, read about how someone else became successful and you try to copy that, which is great, but you try to copy that in a perfect way.

Even worse, you feel like if you don’t copy that person perfectly, it won’t work for you and you feel like everything you did was in vain because it’s not “perfect”.

Please repeat after me:

“I trust that everything that I do is perfect the way it is. I trust that my journey is perfect as it is. I trust that I will reach my goals at the perfect moment for me.”

I am enough photo

Think about it this way: usually, perfectionism will stop you from doing what you feel like doing, will stop you from a launch, from posting an article, from sharing a picture, from creating a video because of some very small imperfections.

Perfectionism also appears from comparing yourself with other people.

This one is so tricky because comparing yourself with other people does not help you at all in the first place, but if you compare your level 1 with someone else’s level 50, you’re doomed to feel bad about yourself!

Three mistakes people make when they compare themselves with other people.

First, the actual fact of comparing yourself with other people can hurt you. It’s been said that comparison is the thief of joy for a reason.

Secondly, they compare themselves with other people in their industry that have started years ago and expect from themselves to be as good, as professional, as connected as those influencers.

Thirdly, they compare themselves with people that started differently than them. And by that I mean that you cannot compare yourself with someone that has started her business with a budget of $100,000 if you only have $1,000 when you’re starting out. Your journeys cannot be more different!

Perfectionism can paralyze you!

Perfectionism Quote

A client of mine once felt so paralyzed because she heard an online guru talking about posting on all social platforms and he said that you need to post different updates on all your social platforms.

Now imagine that she’s a one-man-show trying to make it in the online world – if she tries to do a “perfect” job on social media, she won’t have time or energy to do much else.

The thing is that some people can do what the guru suggested because they have an entire team behind their business but if you are a one man show, it’s hard to be all over the place. Trying that might even kill your business!

Don’t listen to everyone out there no matter how successful they are! If it does not resonate with you, forget it!

Find people that are where you want to get and started how you started.

Perfectionism is a form of procrastination!

Why do people procrastinate? Because they are scared of failing. Because for a perfectionist, any failure, no matter how small, it’s devastating.

So, isn’t it logical to postpone certain projects that have a high risk of failing?! Well, it is if you don’t want to grow.

We, as perfectionists, need to accept failure as part of the journey and see the positive side of it. We can learn much more from our failures than from our success.

Oh, and the biggest mistake perfectionists do, is to label themselves as being a FAILURE of they failed. So not true!

I see clients that are busy changing something at their website every month but that will not push them further. They do this because they are scared of bigger projects, of the projects that can really grow their business like writing articles, launching courses, doing webinars, videos or live workshops.

The difference is that changing something at your website design might grow your business by 1%, but if you publish a guest post can grow your business by 20% – the amount of work could be the same.

Did you know that the world is not just black and white?

Fear of perfection

The above statement might sound stupid, but perfectionists see life in black and white. It’s either one way or the other – there are no gray lines for them.

That’s why it’s so hard for them to decide. Don’t take things so seriously – it will make life easier and much more fun.

Learn to be more flexible in your approach, learn to let go of controlling every little detail and life will unfold in a very beautiful way for you.

Trust. Have more faith. It’s worth it!
